For most classrooms, daycare rooms and early learning programs, a complete Glo Germ kit with a UV lamp, gel or oil, powder and training materials is the best fit. Kit 1004 suits a standard class, Kit 1007 larger groups or school-wide use, and the Premium Mini Kit small groups or a single demo. GermWise accepts purchase orders from schools and school boards.
What should a classroom germ kit include?
A real UV lamp matters most. Glo Germ glows under long-wave UV light, and a lamp bright enough for a whole group means every student can see the glow, not just the one holding the light. A kit should also pair gel for hands with powder for surfaces, so one set covers handwashing checks and surface-spread activities.
Look for teaching materials too. Activity sheets or a trainer's manual save lesson prep time. See our classroom activities and experiments for ready-to-run lessons.

Is there a kit for daycares and early learning?
Yes. The Premium Mini Kit suits a daycare room or a small group of young children, and the gel goes on hands like lotion. Adults should apply the gel, run the UV check and supervise handwashing. For a group activity, try The Handshake Chain and How Well Did We Wash?
How long does one kit last?
The UV lamp is reusable and refills are sold separately.
Can my school or board order with a purchase order?
Yes. Schools and school boards can submit a purchase order on the purchase order page. To order for several classrooms or schools, the bulk order page lets you add many items at once and see the total cost of a larger order. Pricing is the same for all customers.
What free resources come with it?
GermWise offers free printable worksheets for Kindergarten to Grade 6 in English, French and Spanish on the school worksheets page. The trainer's manual is a free download there too, and the Premium Mini Kit includes a printed trainer's manual and activity sheets.
Does it fit the curriculum?
Glo Germ activities can support hygiene expectations in the Ontario curriculum. Two examples, as cited in a public health teaching tool:
- Ontario Kindergarten Program (2016), 6.3: "practise and discuss appropriate personal hygiene that promotes personal, family and community health"
- Ontario Grade 1 Health and Physical Education (2019), D2.5: "demonstrate an understanding of and apply proper hygienic procedures for protecting their own health and preventing the transmission of disease to others"

Can I add a plush germ to the lesson?
Giant Microbes plush toys work well for "meet the germ" discussions. See the Giant Microbes collection.
Frequently asked questions
Is it safe for kids?
Read the safety data sheets and the product label before your first session, and supervise every activity. The gel contains soy oil, so check for soy allergies before applying it to skin. Never shine the UV lamp into anyone's eyes.
Gel or powder for younger grades?
Gel goes on hands and is water-based, so it is the usual choice for younger grades. Powder is for surfaces, such as a doorknob or pencil. See gel vs powder vs oil.
Can classrooms share one kit?
Yes. The UV lamp is reusable, so classes can take turns, and refills are sold separately.
Can daycares and early learning centres use Glo Germ?
Yes. Gel on hands makes a simple group activity for young children, and the Premium Mini Kit suits a small group. Adults should supervise every activity. See The Handshake Chain for a Kindergarten to Grade 2 activity.
Do you ship to schools across Canada?
Yes. GermWise ships from Brockville, Ontario to every province, including schools, daycares and school boards anywhere in Canada. There are no border duties or brokerage fees. Shipping is not free, and the rates are on the shipping policy page.
Do you offer school board pricing?
Pricing is the same for all customers. Schools and school boards can order with a purchase order.
